The final days of Bush
After looking at the War on
Nipples my attention quickly
turned back to politics as so
much is happening. I wanted
to find a way to capture the
last 8 yeas of the Bush
presidency. It's been a long
trip and I think bringing it
home with paint and poem is
the best way to do it.

Poem By Steve Hansen
It wasn't always shoes and boos or cries of stolen vote,
Ground Zero gave us moments when we weren't quite at your throat.
And when Iraq's three thousand dead made re-election tough,
Well that time a majority still said you're up to snuff.
Things mighta gone downhill from there, the seconds usually do,
But yours was extra special grim, a deeper shade of blue.
There was Katrina with its poor, its huddled masses cryin' --
Can't blame those hackles that were raised 'bout "Brownie's doing fine."
And in Iraq the death toll starts to rival Saddam's day,
But you just give us "loyalty!" this time thrown Rumsfeld's way.
You might have kept some partisans supporting tax restraint,
But broken budgets, massive debts so did that record taint
That as of now it's hard to find a clique that likes your schtick.
Last month even the neo-cons took back your membership!
We may not find a group that your departure will lament,
But any judgement we make now needs history to cement.
I find it easy to imagine pulling off a shoe,
And taking aim -- the first might miss -- the second one flies true!
But that's too easy so I'll give you just a bit of art,
and thank the democratic way that next week you'll depart.
